Obviously Bulbasaur! He levels up pretty well, is capable of taking on the first two gyms by itself, learns Solar Beam and is a total baller. Second place would be Squirtle due to making Brock a pushover, can use the TM you get from Misty and can learn Cut and Surf. Charmander? Weak against both first gyms, isn't really useful until Celadon City and doesn't learn great moves until much later. But my favorite starter overall?
