Is the current meta finally balanced?
Hey guys,
I've seen a lot of people complaining that the meta is broken and that Last Word is way too OP.
I think that year 1 was way more broken with Thorn, Hawkmoon and Last Word at the time.
I thought I'd share my opinion on this topic with you ;)
What do you guys think?

Crucible seems fine. At least to me and my group. Didn't have any complaints when Pulse rifles where the top of the food chain either. Before that, it seemed like everyone had thorn and a shotty. [spoiler]people migrate to what is popular, making these choices even more prevalent. Some weapons really are better than others...but that hasn't been the case since the mythoclast. Thorn came close though...that was pretty ridiculous. Perception drives the meta more than anything else these days. Grab a fusion rifle and a good med. Impact auto like hard light. Try them. See if your overall average kd drops a bit and recovers...or straight nosedives. You tell me if the meta is born from op weapons.[/spoiler]

You answered your own question year one had 3 guns year two one. Spoiler, it's not balanced at all, now delete tlw and mida and we have balance

Eh, it's still annoying knowing every gun you're going to see in any given match. Its better now for sure, but TLW still ruins matches, and any average Joe can snipe like a pro with 1k Yard Stare. But it's better than the 9 months of thorn.

7 RisposteAs your camping and talking about how you can play with all the OP weapons. Try using something other than Mida, Last Word, Any Pulse Rifle, or Doctrine. You will not get a kill. Between the horrible hit detection, everyone using the Y2 Thorn (Mida Tools), and the skill based matchmaking, it's almost impossible to play casually in the casual part of Destiny (aka regular crucible) They need to increase the accuracy of hand cannons while keeping last word where it is but increasing recoil for Last Word. They need to increase base damage but lower precision scaler for all auto rifles. Autos also need a base Range and Stability buff. Scout Rifles are fine. High RoF pulse rifles need a Stability decrease. Low RoF pulse rifles need a slight damage reduction. Mida Multi Tool either needs to have less mobility while ADS or needs to have more flinch when hit. Fusion Rifles need a stability and accuracy buff. Shots are constantly not going where you are aiming and none of the Fusion Rifles have a recoil pattern that is useable. Snipers need to have all mobility/handling changes that shotguns have received. This includes increased time to ADS, less movement speed, delay to ADS after sprinting, slower reload for High Impact snipers. These are just weapon changes. Other changes consist of Lightning Grenades and Firebolt nades needing something changed. Or Arcbolts being fixed so that the damage doesn't fluctuate between 20-80. How can you say this "Meta" is balanced? It is so far from. The weapons were so much more balanced in Y1 than now (disregarding thorn, last word, and Hawkmoon). Autos could actually compete with other weapons, Hand cannons actually registered damage, Pulse Rifles weren't dominating everything, Scout Rifles were useable and competitive, Fusion rifles actually hit people without delay. How can you actually say that Crucible is anywhere near ballenced?

4 RisposteIt's a hell of a lot more balanced than most want to admit, probably in one of the best states its been in a long time. Supers are good but you're not guaranteed kills anymore; there isn't a huge standout best weapon; and if the February update just tweaks with special ammo and not much else, maybe introduces more Legendary Snipers in the 1k archetype with good scopes and Scouts in the Mida archetype it'll be in a great place.

3 RisposteIt is really balanced right now, there's just a few standout guns that are slightly better than the rest and most people are using them for that reason. Those being MIDA, TLW, 1kYS, and a few other standouts.

No, not for shotguns anyway... The Conspiracy Theory D is broken, and the exotic shotguns are worse than Legendaries, which should never be the case

The most balanced state was the week before ttk when everyone was trying out new things because they didn't know what was good and bad

As some have said, if there is a Meta then things aren't quite "balanced" . I agree it better then year 1 in some cases but at same time there is a lack of balance between most guns
