So I tried the Totems cheese today...
Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.

I've only done it once because the brand kept spontaneously disappearing at :10 seconds from the guy on the platform. It still disappeared, but didn't cause anybody to die. Other than that, normal is better.

5 RisposteThe cheese sucks. It's not any easier. Especially for the 2 back where then boomer spawns. I've done it twice. One time, we got it done right away but I questioned how effective that was. The 2nd time, we did it once, wiped and we got it done on the 2nd try when we did it the normal way. Honestly I don't understand why people have problems with this part. It's simple.

14 RisposteAll I can say is, I feel bad for people that have to use LFG to raid. I was busy tue night when my regular group raids and missed the run. Had to resort to LFG yesterday and it was one of my worst raiding experiences!

2 RisposteI crap on anybody who mentions it. Total waste of time. It doesn't even make it any faster, it just means the two guy on the totems have more work to do while the guys in the middle stand around.

Our clan did it once just to try it. We did do it easily, however, we have never done it again.

3 RisposteI have only done the cheese 2 times. Once just to try it, because Yolo. The second time, I was trying to help a friend through the raid, and he just kept dying... So we threw him in the middle for the cheese. He still died, but we were at least able to still finish it without him that way :-P The cheese can be drastically easier, but only if you have at least 3 good people on your team that are good enough to carry. One good person on each totem and the other to carry the middle group.

Such scrubs, my goodness. My fireteam tried the cheese once, ONCE and then we all said heck with this. So much more easier and quicker the normal way.

Got into a lfg the other day everyone was chill but one guy. Just happened to be the guy that cause most of the wipes on oryx. I think we wiped 10 or 12 times because of him. The last time he wiped he was cussing saying it was the leaders fault which it wasn't. Me and this ass hole were the titans dropping the ogres. So he decides to jump down and blow the bomb without saying anything and dies. This time we said -blam!- it and continued on. We wound up 5 manning majority of oryx. And are genius of a fire team leader just before the last bombs to be detonated kicked him from the team. We all got some pretty good messages after. But I'd day lesson learned for him. Quit being an ass hole

If your team could not do it with the cheese, then in all likelihood they could not do it without the cheese, since as you say, the cheese makes it easier and faster Not sure why you focus your angst at the cheese instead of the people who apparently can't play the raid in the first place...

1 RispondiI don't consider it a cheese because you are just as likely to die the same as if you were doing it normally. That said I tried it, don't like it. Not worth the time. The raid is ridiculously easy with the right group. Even on LFG.

The reason that this is being done in MOST cases is down to Bungie's inability to iron out the glitches i.e and im sure most people will agree with this: When the pass of the brand should happen on the totem with both of you on there and 100% clearing your deathsingers and it just not passing when you are on the last cycle. Yes with an experienced group you can time your run so that if it doesnt pass you can pick up the brand on the way and meet half way with just enough time to save the totem. With respects to the difficulty level, i would say the 2 sword guys have to be on the ball as they have to deal with adds, boomers and anything not mopped up in the middle with minimal ammo. I dont mind doing it either way as long as the job gets done and i think that is the point here. Its always good to have a plan B if the game is so damn glitchy you cant do it the way it was meant to be done.

This raid is so easy, if you cheese this raid. Id quit the game. Even hard mode is easy.

1 RispondiIt is not faster, a 30 second timer takes 30 seconds no matter where you stand. As for it being easier, that is seriously debatable. I agree with op, I want no part of it.

For people who cheese the raids are just lazy. I was in the same situation. One guy wanted to cheese the totems and he started explaining it. It sounds stupid and confusing so we just ran it how it was supposed to be and got it done. Don't be lazy people do the raid the way it was ment to be. If you need to cheese it then you're not that good anyways lol. And that's not at the OP that's for everyone else.

1 RispondiThe people who were saying cheese > normal were the ones dying every. single. time. We ended up losing a guy because of the 30 minutes of nothing doing this cheese. I've only done the cheese once and It's honestly not hard. The people who kept dying weren't even the one's at the totems, they were the ones who simply had to go down to the middle and jump back up.

Same thing happened to myself. The party leader was sure the cheese was faster and easier. We spent like an hour failing and the leader said if we did it normal it would take too much time. We did it normal and beat it first try. I will NEVER try the cheese again. Its pointless and doesn't really save that much time. Especially when everyone has to keep wiping.
