I love Halo, but I have to go with Space Marine.
I think the real question should be why they would fight in the first place? Spartans and Space Marines both want humanity to survive, right? So why not just become allies?
Space Marines have a hell of a different way of going about that though. Some Space Marines are nice, but not all. Take the Red Scorpions for example, they are basically Space N@zis. They kill anything that isn't a genetically sound human. No mutants, no aliens, no near-human species. That, and they (Imperium) don't like other human civilizations being around, they like to be in charge.

Modificato da SilverPulse620: 12/13/2015 10:26:31 PMI see. So this Imperium isn't exactly the nicest of governments out there?
-
Not really, but some of them try to be nice. A fair amount of Space Marines are hubristic, and think nothing of civilians, other than how much of a hassle they are.
-
Dang. You'd think they would try to train that out. After all, they are who they are supposed to protect.
-
Well, it must never have occurred to them after the Horus Heresy. Dark days those were....... I guess they'd rather have Hubris Marines, instead of having their Marines go Chaos.

Modificato da SilverPulse620: 12/13/2015 10:43:35 PMChaos? Is that there version of AWOL?
-
Uhhhhhhhh, its much worse. They are Marines who have devoted themselves to one of Four primary Chaos Gods. Tzeentch- all about trickery and magic. Khorne- all about murdering people, VIOLENTLY Nurgle- all about Space AIDS Slaanesh- Can't talk about he/she/it without being bant.

Yeah, they kill a lot of people....... like, a shit ton. The Covenant War isn't even a blip on the -blam!-ing radar compared to the Chaos kill count.
