Does the training really that hard/bad? What happen if you want to be a sniper?

It's only hard the first 8 weeks while trying to re adjust to everything. You have to learn how to power through physical/educational activities with barely any sleep while being uncomfortable(wet or dirty). I would say the hardest thing to get use to is the body detoxing from all the junk food you use to intake in the civilian life. As long as you aren't weak minded it's not that hard. But for something like being a sniper or special forces, all I have to say is good luck man. You will definitely need it. Edit: You have to be selected or sent by your company to sniper school. I forget how long the school it but I know a lot of people drop out due to the difficulty of it. Let's just say if you can sit in your own shit/piss you won't pass.

  • Boot camp - Not extremely difficult, it just sucks. You get built up physically, but it's pretty stressful mentally. There is 0 recreation and you will never get time alone. Your patience will be tested to extreme levels, and DI's will play mind games with you all -blam!-ing day. School of Infantry - no sleep, MRE'S every meal, constantly getting -blam!-ed with by combat instructors, classes at 0500, putting hundred of rounds down range a week, lots and lots of hiking. Expect to be awake about 20-22 hours a day. You can rest up and recover on weekends though. To try out to be a Scout sniper you have to graduate recruit training, graduate from the Infantry Training Battalion at SOI, then be accepted into the school. You are not guaranteed to pass once you're accepted, I didn't do it but that training looked like a horrible -blam!-ing time, not to mention the skill needed to pass your marksmanship tests.

  • Nah man, super easy. 10 minutes on an exercise bike and you should be ready to hit the front lines. If you want to be a sniper you just put it on the application form.

  • Meet a army recruiter, mine made all sort of wonderful promises. The reality wasn't horrible, just simply not what I was told. Same for anything, some individuals will exaggerate things, while others will tell it to you straight. Nothing anti military about it.
