Just keep running around and listen closely...his footsteps get louder as he gets closer. Also, the crosshairs on your primary weapon when in the hipfire position will turn red if they're pointed towards him....so you'll have an idea when he's off in the distance but in front of you. Without any burns from enemy fire, it really isn't a difficult nightfall. I solo'd it.
