I found the third man
It's Toland.
For a very long time people theorized that the mask of the third man is owned by dredgen yor, but I am here to disprove it.
Ever notice how the helm has three eyes? Of course you did. Did you notice that it changes color for each gender? Of course you did. This is why I think so
Toland the shattered was the third man to join eris's fireteam. To hide the fireteam In the hell mouth he had to give them the blood of the hive, or an acolyte. My thought Is that Toland killed an acolyte, and used its head to give eris camo against the hive. This is why eris has 3 eyes, due to this helmet with the hive attributes giving her the eyes. This also explains the description. "It wasn't me. It was the third man." It is her using her new found camo to hide from the hive, then saying Toland was the culprit.

I could be wrong here, but I was always under the impression that "the third man" was a reference to the main character of the Splinter Cell series of games (whose name eludes me at the moment, but that's besides the point) whom was always referred to as "the third man" and he always wears his tri-sensor night vision goggles that share the mask of the third mans iconic three lights....
