If its the same one I'm thinking of (silent scream emblem), you can just jump over the door to access the knight. You don't actually have to kill anything in that first room if you don't want to.

At the left corner of the door and side wall, there is gap at the top you can jump through. Look at WombRaiider3's thread on calcified fragments. Pretty sure its his Mausoleum fragment vid that has that encounter on it.

Look in the upper left corner of the door (ceiling) and there is a hole big enough to jump into and over.
