The gear may no longer be any good BUT the shards can be turned into motes and glimmer and the gear into weapon parts and armor materials. Raids are the best farming method for any of these now

And engrams can drop from raids now, not sure if that only applies to kings fall though. If it doesnt then the abyss has to be the one of the best engram farming spot in the game
