I dont see why this post was downvoted. He is right. It plays just like a subscription-based service. I didn't buy TTK and it pretty much feels like my account has been degraded to a trial account with so many end-game activities getting locked away for me. Eventually there might not be any music in the game unless I decide to "re-subscribe" :)
