You realize Bungie screws up scaling, don't you? Take a look at the Earth from the moon, it's way bigger than it should be. Or, alternatively, look at the moon from Earth, when was the last time you saw a moon so huge? It's intentional, I'm sure, because it's more "cinematic." You can see more details and such.
