The Raids we do are essentially the "World Bosses" you're talking about.
But I really like the option to play Patrol on a higher light level than the default story mode levels that they have currently

No. A RAID boss is highly different than a WORLD boss. A world boss does not require in anyway to fight through an enemy or zone just to reach it. To compare a Raid boss to a World boss or vice versa belittles both.
