I could see them using "Knights of Cydonia" in that same scene to a much greater effect. I thought the advertisement displayed the tongue in cheek humor they are trying to insert into the game. I liked the whole "life as we know it is shit and we are all but extinct but let's laugh in the face of death." feeling.
