He says he made a mistake. I'm going to have to wait for now. If I never hear from him again, i'll open a dispute. Right now because of his ship date, ebay doesn't think the item has had time to arrive, so it won't let me open anything.

Yep exactly, you'll have to wait a few days to open it. If he made a mistake and knows about it, I don't see why he won't to send you the correct code....
