I think Boomer said it perfectly. They simply just don't want any kind of competition for the new gear. Which makes zero sense to me. I fail to see WHY it NEEDS to be made into a competition instead of just designing new weapons that fit in with what we already have. That or actually demonstrate creative innovation by creating NEW TYPES of weapons instead, like they did with these Swords they're putting out which now opens up the realm of Melee Weapons for Destiny further increasing the vast potential that there is for new gear. Hell, "Warrior Spirit" Perk for Leg Armor that increases movement speed while using a Melee Weapon. That's just ONE example of a brand new perk for them to use.
