Your final reason is stupid. In a video game violence is glamorized and made to seem fun, but unless your kid is mentally unwell he will know that in real life violence is not to be taken lightly. Chances are if he sees someone get shot in real life he will still be pretty traumatized, and if he's given a gun and unsupervised it's likely he won't go on a fifteen kill spree.
