Ghorn Analogy to real world
Unless you bought Gallahorn, you didn't "work hard to earn/get" it.
You walk into a bestbuy to window shop, and your the lucky 1,000,000th person to walk in. You win a 60" TV.
Another guy goes into bestbuy. He saved up money he earned while working, do something, and he's spending it on a 60" TV as s reward for all his hard work.
Which is earning?
Do you know what this means? It means both people have a 60" TV. Shut up and play the -blam!-ing game.

5 RisposteWhat about if you have two people working towards an ultimate goal of a raise, one person has worked 10,000 hours and the other person that has only worked 100 hours. The way RNG works here is that both participants are just as likely to receive a raise regardless of their time spent working. So basically you don't have to work hard at all to get great exotics. It's impossible to say you have earned any specific weapon or armor.
