I really don't know. Everyone's freaking out about the Hopscotch and I'm just sitting here with my Timepiece, KAU8, and Conduit laughing my shader off. Hopscotch/Messenger has higher time-to-kill than other pulse rifles in PvP, objectively it's worse than the ones I mentioned. A KAU8 or Conduit kills in three head bursts faster than a Hopscotch kills in two head bursts- and you can miss a shot or two with the others.
