I'm out. Deej released a video where he addressed ascending year one weapons. It isn't going to happen, and he was extremely dismissive and insulting when addressing the question. I have better things to do with my free time and my entertainment budget than to have a year's worth of effort wiped out, accompanied by snarky comments about how I could still use my gear on some patrols if I wished. Hopefully, I get to see some of you around on other games. But Destiny is dead to me.
