I hear your pain, but I'm not sure if you can call playing Destiny a time investment. Apart from getting a bit of fun out of it, you're not getting anything else. Other MMO might be an investment when you can grind and sell some content on eBay. I think once people passed the mindset that this game is just another RPG game with some multiplayer elements and not an MMO game, they'll get over the renewing of weapons, lack of story and multiplayer functionalities + activities.
