It's cool to have options on what gear we want to use. Remember when we ALL had the same exact Crota gear on for months? How boring was that? I loved the idea of being able to ascend my warlock VOG boots for example, because I just plain liked the way they look with the neon orange strap! Lol it's fun to have a choice on the items we equip. Every destiny player likes getting new gear. It doesn't hurt the game to also have the old stuff we've acquired along the way as another choice. The dark below weapons were very specific on the perks. Players don't want to swap weapons every time we come across a different type of enemy. THATS WHY players used the old weapons and gear. I won a scout, hand cannon, pulse rifle, and auto rifle from Skolas. The solar dregs pride was cool just because I didn't have any solar hand cannons but they were all a huge disappointment when it came to actually playing with them. People are pissed about not being able to ascend old weapons because they know it means more "Skolas" type gear to come. Who wants that? Only people who don't know any better.
