All the current footage of the game, shows player cards without grimoire on them, example above and here: http://i.imgur.com/rdpb7vD.png I personally think this would suck if they got rid of it, and just hid it away (Not just because I have max), but, it is an experience gauge as to how experienced a player is. In trials, I always look at grimoire first as this is usually an indication of how good the players are going to be. I hope it's still there... and it's just not in these versions as they aren't final builds.
