PvE: Basically everything got more difficult in pve. Shotguns are worse, gally is worse, ice breaker is worse, and black hammer is useless. However, don't dismantle that black hammer yet, bungie might take back their decision to neuter it completely. Now onto the meat of it all... PvP. [A disclaimer, all pvp is relating to ToO and the concept of sweaty, tryhard, competative destiny pvp. Yes every gun is viable, some are just better than others.] PvP: Hand cannons- The Bungie gods have spoken and they declare the Thorn is dead! It will no longer be a 2-shot headshot and is thus worthless. The Last Word however is not yet out for the count. By simply switching from Aggressive Ballistics to Smart Drift Control, this gun will still be the best close range gun in the game. It will be a 2 shot headshot + 1 body shot which is not that difficult at close range. Autorifles- Auto rifles will now be close range killers, similar to TLW. We will have to see which is better, necrochasm variants with 100 RoF or hard light variants with 88 RoF. This part is a bit tougher to predict. I assume it will end up being stability over range in the long run, but I could be totally backwards in the end. So, the necro is the has the best stability for its class, and the iron banner auto, similar's wrath, is the best in its. If youre like me and never got one, the Low Down P-XIV from the crucible quarter master is the next best. Pulse Rifles- Pulse rifles are now the only 2-shot kill in the game, which means they are the new top dogs! The Messenger is now the best primary in the game. Go do lvl 28 dragon strikes and pick yourself up a Hopscotch Pilgrim as well, it's messenger tier but can be rerolled if you want something better than 3rd-eye. Now The Red Death might be the new king under the mountain, however pulse rifles in this tier after getting a nerf to stability slightly and the red death has the worst of its class. Go to the vanguard quatermaster and grab a 55A-allFATE, it has the best stability. All hail our new pulse rifle overlords!! Scout Rifles- They still suck, and are going to be worse.
