What does Xbox One Backwards Compatibility mean for destiny?
I'm looking to upgrade from 360 to xbox one around Christmas time. If I plug in my 360 version of destiny do I play on the Xbox one servers or the 360 servers? I know there was a way to upgrade your version to next gen, but it was only for digital download and I have the disc. (Which btw is really dumb, I don't need a new disc I'd gladly upgrade to the digital version instead if I could).

Here's why: Microsoft is only allowing backwards compatibility for games with permission from publishers. So Destiny probably won't be one of them for two reasons: - The game is already on Xbox One/360, PS4/PS3. - The game makes a lot of money on all platforms. This is just an hypothesis btw. Also, for other games, we unfortunately live in the world of remasters, so there will be a lot of games that won't have backwards compatibility cause of this. 1 RispondiIF it worked, you would be playing on the 360 servers. The disk doesn't upgrade the game at all, and it would play it exactly if you were still on the 360. That said, what's keeping games from being added to the backwards compatibility list is Microsoft not having the permission of the company to add it. Unless the game uses 360 kinnect features, that's the only thing. I doubt a game like Destiny would give permission, seeing as they have a xbone version and would like to make money from you buying it again.

8 RisposteAll it does is when you put your 360 disk into the Xbox One, it gives you a download code for the Xbox One version of the code in the Xbox Marketplace (for free of course). So you will be upgrading to Xbox one servers, and will no longer be on 360 servers.
