If I am summoned after using a soapstone, what do I have to do "Fulfill my duty"? I think it's after you kill a boss you get "Duty fulfilled" and return to your own world, but what if we don't kill a boss together, is it on a time limit? Do I help kill everything in an area, or just follow him around eternally?
Edit- how do I get a white sign soapstone? I have a small one, what's the difference?

The small white soapstone after a short amount of time gives you a smooth and silky for helping another worlds master. The white sign soapstone which is located in the forest of giants can be obtained after clearing an area you get locked in by an NPC who is sitting in front of a gate. Clear it and talk to him he will give it to you. Both soapstones have a time limit, the larger one obviously being a longer amount of time 15min I believe. You join another worlds master to get souls from their enemies as well as the boss once you clear it. Aside from souls it will turn you back to a human as well after beating it. Lastly their is two covenants in the game which, to earn the rewards, you have to help other players beat the boss of the area. Please feel free to ask any other questions :)

Thanks man, this thread has been invaluable in these dark times of noob, helping with bosses has been a lot of fun. I do have one more question, my lightning bolts hardly do any damage, I know you can re enforce the chime, any other ways? I bought the spell from the miracle lady.

No problem glad to help As for the LS their is 3 levels of the lightning spears available. One is lightning spear, Great LS, and Sunlight Spear. Great LS you can purchase from Straid in the Lost Bastile after you unpetrify him(Right before the bonfire Sinners Rise). Also if you pay the ladder smith 12k and have the forgotten key(acquired in Black Gultch) you can open a Chest with it in it. The 3rd is in undead crypt forgot where exactly. Sunlight spear you receive from the Sunlight Covenant after turning in 30 sunlight medals. Strongest of the three. To increase your overall DMG with miracle type spells you do two things. One being upgrade your chime. Two llvling your faith up. These will allow you to do more DMG with these spells.

Yep, I got it. Oh, but is there a soapstone for other things besides jolly co-operation? Like pvp.

Yeah. Behind an optional boss in Huntsman's Copse you can find the Brotherhood of Blood and you can drop down summon signs to let people summon you for a fight. There's also the dragon covenant which does something similar.
