The only reasonable analogy I can find is people are pissed if "The mcchicken sandwich goes from its $1 price to $15" You are still getting crap, but just paying more for it, and you know it isn't worth $15. Yea again, $15 isn't much, but it's a loss of $14. If we made stupid decisions like that daily, erryone'd be poor af.
