In Destiny you only earn the following, level 20, experience, motes of light, strange coins, reputation, marks, commendations, the strangers rifle, and planet materials, therefore anything you purchase using them is earned. You could argue exotic bounty weapons are earned, however you need two RNG steps for these, being the actual getting of the bounty, and then the choices of bounties, but past that they are set tasks, so that's where the argument is made, personally I say exotic bounty weapons are earned. You do NOT earn anything RNG, and if you think your RNG gear is earned it's not, an iron banner level 32 is more earned than a raid 32, as you had to earn your iron banner rank.
