So I'm about to tell my family I'm BI
But I can't decide whether it's better to tell them by a letter I hand them that explains the long story I have, or if I should just say it. Has anyone else gone through this, and if so do you have any advice?

Coming out as bi was a doddle for me. Just told them and they didn't even care...admittedly this was after I came out as transgender so your results may vary from mine.

3 RisposteWhen my sister came out, she did it face to face. She didn't make a big deal of it and set everyone down, she just said it in the car one day. My mom was upset at first, but it was more about her worrying about the bigotry and stigma my sister would face than anything. Soon after, it was past and life went on. Not sure if that helps or not but, like many things in life, it probably won't be as bad as you worry it might be.

1 RispondiYeah, no one cares, no one's supposed to care, not even the person coming out of the closet they were standing in the doorframe of. It's not a big deal, most people are bi. Come back when you're about to tell them you're gay or trans and there is a realistic chance you may be kicked out of your house.

The best thing to do is to just tell them straight (hue). The more you distance yourself from physically telling them the more uncomfortable you make yourself look, which is never a good thing in these situations. Plus it means you don't have to sit around stressing like shit until they've finished reading it. The more you tell people, the easier it'll become to tell other people, so some more advice is not to let them be the first people you vocalise it to unless you're sure it's going to go well.

When I came out to my parents I wrote them a letter and I think it was the best thing, to let them have time to think about it before they talked to me. They have been as supportive as they can be ever since. [spoiler]I'm transgender by ze way[/spoiler]

Don't bother telling them, Just date who you want, let them find out that way. Making a big deal out of it isn't really the way to go, regardless of whether they'd be supportive or not.
