You box a kid up and tell him not to leave, what's the first thing to cross his mind the second you leave? "How can I get out of here". You tell a kid drugs are bad, but don't explain why, later on his friends will tell him that you're full of shit(when it comes to weed, they're mostly right. Sorry, but it's true...) I'm not telling you how to raise your kid, that's none of my business. I'm just telling you from my experience, you tell a kid how things work, and he'll be less likely to find out himself.
