I think they decided to pivot toward creating new games due to the constant negativity attached to anything Destiny.
Look at the nimrod content creator Lucky10 and how he’s shifted his content to 99% negative click bait. While he isn’t doing big numbers, I’m sure they are better when he’s bashing.
Their focus should have been on creating D3 but it presented too large a risk.
Honestly anything online is chock full of Bots posting negative things these days. These forums are filled with them too lol.
Bungie isn’t going down as a studio over stolen art or people being negative over Marathon.

It's not negativity, negativity shows care - it's dwindling profits & growing costs, combined with a shrinking playerbase & dwindling profit year on year. Sony have already cut yearly big expansions because they don't hit goals, it's been making less yearly since shadowkeep, theres been 350 layoffs & Sony poached another 150 staff, they're not happy with bungie management at all, the marathon stuff is destroying any reputation bungie had left as a name, & they're based in Seattle - the most expensive place on earth to make games, a fact said during the closure of firewalk & a reason it never attempted free to play, plus leaks of Pete parsons telling staff after the last layoffs it was marathon or closure. Plus the obvious staff exodus naturally when the final buyout bonuses get paid next summer. I hate to believe the obvious but it looks like Sony have really big decisions to make regarding bungie, marathon looks like it's doa & they absolutely won't throw good money after bad, they could just let it go. Destiny isn't profitable enough these days & Seattle costs burn Sony. I've no idea if they'd actually shut it all down & write it off, but the fact it's a possibility is scary & shows just how far bungie have fallen

No it’s hate and it’s not just D2. The angry people online do this everywhere not just with Bungie games. SM has turned into cesspool in general. It’s sad what anonymity produces these days.

100%. Makes me wish we was back in the early 2000s when people didn’t have a platform making videos for negativity clicks since that’s what gets attention these days. “This game is dead” is hardly constructive towards making things better never mind that it wears people out on wanting to even use social media to the point they get off it and all you have left are the negative Nancies talking between themselves. And people act surprised when content creators shut off their comment sections :D

Exactly and it’s on every forum and with every topic. It’s always the loudest people in the room that have very little to add. Sad honestly.
