Bad as in it feels like an edgy 14 year old trying to be Dark Souls in space.
So probably closer to that second one.

It is worth noting, I think the gameplay (again of the first one) more than makes up for the stupid story. Partially because the majority of the gameplay doesn’t involve the story. When you generate a new level, it doesn’t involve the story at all—everything relating to the story is in the Campaign mode, which I haven’t touched in a long time. There is a smidge of campaign-locked loot, but for the most part, you don’t actually need to bother with the story. In fact, iirc, you don’t even need to play the story to unlock the levels (though take that sentence with a grain of salt; it’s been a while). I’d look into the first game. You can probably pick it up for much cheaper, and get a better sense of whether you’d enjoy them.

Well maybe ill do that. Its giving me outriders vibes too.

I haven’t played Outriders, so I can’t comment on that, but I played the jannolor out of Remnant 1—nearly 100% it—so if you have any more questions about it, I can probably answer them.
