This is one of the reasons why to me it feels like the devs try too hard to make these games difficult.

That is the point and niche of dark souls though
-
No, just bad design. Next you'll say dark souls should only give 3 lives too
-
How's it bad design? In a world where you could be invaded by other players at a moment's notice you're never truly safe - so pausing wouldn't make sense. Would that pause the game for an invader too?
-
Even if you play offline there is no pausing, too that's an irrelevant argument.
-
Yes but there are NPC invasions that occur as well.
-
And npcs care if the game gets paused? I forgot they get bored too.
-
NPC invasions are designed to mimic player invasions hence why I mention them, hell many of them are arguably harder to beat than some bosses (and are better fighters than most players). You are meant to almost never be safe in these games, the only time you are is at the bonfire/Firelink shrine or its equivalent. Every step you take and every move you make is a risk that could cause you to lose several hours of progress. But the developers recognize that people have lives so they made it so every time you quit the game you can start off exactly where you were when you left off.
-
And you wasted your time writing a pointless paragraph because?
-
It's called debating, we disagree, then have it out in a civil manner. Guess you no longer wish to participate.
-
You're talking about things that are entirely irrelevant or pretending I don't understand what the series is. That's hardly debating, that's deflecting. I'm just getting bored of the nonsense now.
-
The game will make an effort to simulate PvP by having invasions from NPC 'players' even if you're offline. In such cases the enemy phantom will try to act like a player as much as possible. But I do get where you're coming from.
-
I understand it in Destiny. It's almost always multiplayer, and it's built to be always multiplayer. But when I'm ploughing through Undead on my own, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to pause it if I've got something to do. I've never done an invasion or anything. Dunno how it works. Only really started playing last week.

Modifié par Neph : 3/29/2016 10:50:42 AMThere is always a threat of other players being able to invade your world if you're in your human form - in that way Dark Souls is also designed to be always online too. You don't choose when to be invaded - it can happen when you don't want it to.

Modifié par Tartan 118 : 3/29/2016 10:57:20 AMWell, nothing so far. I'm searching for my first bonfire in the Parish... Last thing I did was open the gate ahead of some broad stairs up to a sort of church-like building. Then one of those goddamn Sauron-alikes flanked me when I couldn't see around the corner, and dead.

I would like every game to have a hardcore mode where 1 death = death but only as an option as that's the fun I have. Min your view why is dark souls badly designed? Please elaborate
