You should have polled this.
Do Icebreaker. And stick to Sunslinger. It's a far more versatile class for PvE. Voidwalkers don't have the utility that Sunslingers do in raids and strikes.

Just bc you suck and die all the time the only thing warlocks are good for are glitches
-
And says someone who uses a Sunslinger. GG.
-
I'm not a lock. Knobhead.
-
I didn't say you were did I? I just said you die a lot that's why you need a sunsinger to self rez. Learn you read dipshit

Cool beans buddy!

Scatter grenade + bloom = death of all thrall
-
Solar grenades keep em off, or use the second ones to kill them all. Use self res when needed. (If you even ever die) To kill thralls just use firefly.
-
I've never once needed a Voidwalker to clear the lamp section. It's certainly nice to have, but if something goes awry, a rez can turn the tides.

This^^

My first topic on these forums, didn't even think of it! Mind explaining why Sunsinger is more versatile for PvE though? No bashing, simply curious why you think that.
-
Certainly? Keep in mind, this comes from a Hunter. Voidwalkers are very effective at crowd control. No doubt about that. But, so are rocket launchers and fusion rifles. When it comes to coordinated strikes against bosses in raids and strikes, any super other than a bubble or a rez is isn't going to be very useful. There's also the matter of the passive orb generation when Sunslingers use their special. Infinite solar grenades are also very effective at cutting of enemy paths and allowing team mates to flank or retreat, depending on the situation. When it comes down to tooth and nail, a Sunslinger can save a group.
-
That is true, the Sun grenade spam can work wonders aha, I've definitely witnessed that. I guess it just really disappoints me when they save their supers for rez, like a crutch. Whereas, fairly often, I can string my nova bomb combos (with others collecting the orbs I drop, myself collecting theirs, etc) in strikes and raids and cause some serious damage. But alternatively, indeed I could do grenade spam and stick with that Sun super. Things to consider I suppose.

Voidwalker is a powerful class, no doubt. It has it's uses. But, effective weapons can do the same. Overall, if you are playing PvE often and with a team, I think the IB is going to be more beneficial for you and your teammates than the OM will. But, stick to whatever play style you are most comfortable with.
-
Definitely. Thanks for keeping it civil, I appreciate the feedback :) I'll have to try out Sunsinger some more!
-
Yep Yep. Again, I'm a Hunter, so this is just a view from outside the class.
-
Not if you can keep yourself from dying like every other class
-
But, if you die in a raid and don't rez as a lock, we have problem. I haven't played with a Voidwalker lock in a long time, and for good reason. I'm not saying it's a shit subclass, it's super effective in PvP. But, Sunslingers do more good in PvE team challenges.
-
Nah voidwalker has a lot more use in the raid than you give it credit for.
-
Please explain.
-
Ad clearing in vog and in ce.. an impenetrable bubble with vortex. Specifics? Legions phase during conflux part of vog, almost anywhere in ce, during atheon fight while being tped, and then there is the other part where if I'm not using vortex boss dps. Sunsingers: self res. ( note I'm not counting armour combos and whatnot so please do not say hotpf with fusion grenades)
-
No doubt, voidwalkers can clear the shit out of a group of enemies, but again, that's what weapons are for. Of all the times I've raided, I've never once thought to myself, 'Thank God I have a voidwalker here.' A Sunslinger, however, has clutched a raid section on many occasions.
-
Irk on many raid occasions I have felt very dissatisfied that my teammates are sunsingers. As it is they horde the ability away and then use it to self res to as you put it "clutch the raid." Where as a voidwalker I can save a teammates life and generate a few orbs while at it. Instead of going out, tanking, dying, using my self res just to die again without it. As I see it sunsingers are too reliant on their super to keep them alive rather than use it to support the team

Edited by Cruel Squirell: 1/16/2015 8:44:44 PMThe way I see it, defensive supers are more valuable in raids. I have a clan, so no one uses their rez selfishly or without good reason. I could see where pointlessly running into battle just because someone has that rez cushion could be annoying. I'm a Hunter and a Gunslinger at that. I have no defensive capabilities other than dodging or killing what is shooting at me first. That's why I appreciate a Sunslinger. Not that I have a problem staying alive, but in tight spots it's nice to know a teammate can rez and move to safety. But, I'm not saying Sunslinger is superior. I just think the class has a broader use in the raid during boss sections. The original question was should he get the Icebreaker or get the Obsidian Mind so he can use his Voidwalker subclass. I still stick by it that rolling as a Sunslinger and at least having an IB is the best choice for now since he has to choose between the two.
