I can't get ascendant for the life of me. Got plenty of radiant, with nothing to use them on yet. Stuck between a rock and hard place for the time being.
Not enough ascendant to upgrade my gear and lots of radiant with no gear to upgrade. It'll come, I'm sure.

Are you running the Vault of Glass? You should get tons of ascendants from there.

As often as I can, not as often as I'd like...but even that is giving me more radiant than anything. Seems strange to me, but that's all I got out of VoG last weekly and the week before. Maybe 3 shards out of the whole thing. Had to break down some gear I didn't want to just to get to 30. Now everything needs upgrading and the. Commendations are too Big of a pain in the ass to get just to break the armor down for mats.

So you can get the new shards, to upgrade the new raid gear from the new raid, in the old raid....

I guess. All of the mats get confusing. All I really know for sure is I'm not getting shards. Must be energy I'm getting. Next raid will give you atomic energy. You then have to find a sub-atomic particle shard that will turn 3 atomic energy into an atomic shard. Of which, you will need 2 to upgrade your helmets. Only after which, you may upgtade your chest piece after creating more shards that can only be found in the second chest of the fourth raid. And is also a random exotic drop which is guatded by crotas 3rd cousin, BROata. Who also has heart burn and didnt bring rolaids, so hes extra grumpy. Thats what i was told, anyway.

I agree all these different mats get confusing. They should have just stuck with motes of light as the material to upgrade gear. Makes sense, more motes of light, more light level.

I had to look at your profile because I can't understand how you are short on ascendants. I'm swimming in them (over 200) as are most folks responding. You have one character you can raid with, many of us have 2 or 3. You've also only complete the VoG 2 times. I'm not being critical at all... just explaining why you are short on them while many of us are overloaded on them. I also have no idea how you have so many radiants as you've only completed the Crota raid 1 time and that's the [b]only[/b] place to get radiants. I'm thinking perhaps you are meaning that you have a ton of ascendant energies when you need ascendant shards???

I've completed VoG twice, but that doesn't mean I haven't completed the other parts up until Atheon...just means I haven't completed it, not that I haven't done everything else. It baffles me, too. I was pretty sure I shouldn't be getting radiant shards during VoG. Really, I just don't have that amount of time to pour into the game...I do what I can.

Honestly I don't know how long I'll keep playing if they make us re-acquire new gear, which takes a mountain of work to upgrade, every single time a DLC drops. I don't mind the grind for new guns... but I want an upgrade path for my existing gear. It's complete BS that a new player can pick up the game and 2 weeks later, be at the level it took me months to grind to. I'd feel a little better about if they let us keep upgrading our existing gear!
