Grades rarely create a huge impact on opportunities as long as they are above a 3.0-3.2. Unless you are shooting for a very prestigious school.
Once I got my first career out of college, no one cared. Being able to relate to team dynamics, work under pressure, and strive for a goal is more relatable in a 3.6 student than someone who's really good at memorizing stuff.

It would affect how I perceive myself. I strive for perfection in academics, as that is the only redeeming quality i have.

Depends on what kind of school you are going to.

University... It's one of the two largest in my state.

I meant depends on the college/university you are going to. Some give more money out for acedemics, some for well rounded students, some for athletics. It largely depends one how competitive the school is, how much money they have, what you apply for, if someone sneezed in China and if Mars is in retrograde.
