I always thought the leg armor looked badass. However I'm waiting to see what Mark VII looks like. It could be in Halo 5, I'm pretty sure in one of the Kilo 5 books
Osman gets a suit of Mark VII MJOLNIR Armor.
But my lore is rusty so I could be wrong.

Mk VII was never mass produced. The new GEN2 armour (the armour the S-IVs wear) is the newest iteration Mjolnir armour. Technically you could call it the MK VII.
-
But its not really MK VII..? A Spartan II wouldn't be able to fit in a suit of GEN2 that the IV's have cause the II's are much larger and have different genetic enhancements. So wouldn't the suit Osman has and the GEN2 be different varients? I was thinking MK VII would be similar to a whole new suit, essentially like what MK V was in CE and MK VI in H2.

The GEN2 is the newest iteration of Mjolnir; it's technologically superior to the GEN1 iterations of armour. I believe Osman's VII was a prototype IIRC., and that it's the only one that was made. The S-IV essentially filled the space of the S-IIs. But it wouldn't be too much if a stretch for there to be a GEN2 designed for The Chief in future games.

Edited by ANABOLIC INO: 2/2/2014 7:04:24 PMGotcha. Did they go into detail any on Osman's set of MK VII? And they could, but probably won't, its said that the II's feel at home in their armor. Unless they made a GEN2 variant that was large enough for the Chief, which I guess would be the same thing as his current armor, just better. But then they'd have to retcon his H4 armor, unless they came up with a better explanation for it seeing as theres already a GEN2 MK VI set.
Gotcha. Did they go into detail any on Osman's set of MK VII?
I don't know. I'm getting this all from memory.
Unless they made a GEN2 variant that was large enough for the Chief, which I guess would be the same thing as his current armor, just better.
Well, if the E3 Halo trailer is anything to go by, then it's pretty damn obvious that he needs new armour. His helmet is damaged, and it appears that he's not wearing the chest piece as the power pack is missing.
But then they'd have to retcon his H4 armor, unless they came up with a better explanation for it seeing as theres already a GEN2 MK VI set.
The story explanation as to why Chief's armour looks like it does because of a combination of "nanobots" and because of Cortana upgrading the suits firmware. Story wise, every other GEN1 MKVI looks how it did in Halo 3. The MKVI in MP is GEN2, but is designed to look like the GEN1 MKVI.
The helmet part was obvious enough, but I never noticed how the power pack was missing, along with his chest armor. Especially since the explanation they provided wasn't really the greatest one. Firmware wouldn't have changed anything except the HUD and "nanobots" haven't been used anywhere else in the Halo universe (just to my knowledge) making it a crap excuse IMO. EDIT: I wouldn't mind Chief getting a modified set of GEN2 MJOLNIR designed after MKVI in H5 to keep him looking classic like H3. The new armor is cool and all but I think the Chief looks way too big.

I wish that they had kept the H3 design, and then the new design be a new armour they give him when he gets onboard the Infinity.
Especially since the explanation they provided wasn't really the greatest one.
Yup. It was bad.
Firmware wouldn't have changed anything except the HUD and "nanobots" haven't been used anywhere else in the Halo universe (just to my knowledge) making it a crap excuse IMO.
The firmware was the reason his HUD is different. Cortana even said so after he wakes up. And nanobots have existed in the Halo-verse for years, 343 simply used their existence as a reason as to why Chief's armour changed.

I wasn't denying the firmware part, just going along with it. Also what have nanobots even been used for in the Haloverse?
-
Edited by BannedLemön: 2/2/2014 8:51:58 PMI'm not entirely sure what they've been used for, but they are definitely established in the Halo-verse. All 343 did was use their existence as the explanation for the change to Chief's armour. It's a bad explanation, but it is what is.

Yeah, thats pretty lame.
