The original was written in the 90's so it is technically "dated", but that is more about the style of the book, but not the content. The human body and intimate interactions/communication between couples hasn't changed since the 90's. The content is valid, the reader(s) and their opinion of the material will be based on their existing knowledge and experience, balanced against what they think of the author's style.

I don't mind an analytical style... I might enjoy that more than a casual style filled with cheap jokes.
