In your own clothes your constantly judged, in a uniform your not, heck it's more expensive not to have a uniform for parents because their kids feel pressured into getting "designer" clothes.
People do pay to send their kids to school and if that school requires a uniform then they need to have one.
Even in the UK's new Free Schools most of them require a uniform, it's common for schools to have uniforms over here, once you go to college and university then you wear what you want.
