School uniforms improve learning. Do you wear them?

So according to this video School uniforms have improved standards of the school dramatically and students actually like wearing them while before they had the American way of dressing. Do you wear uniforms and if not would you want to? And should people be forced to wear them?

  • Uniforms make everyone equal. No brand names etc. Reduces bullying

  • I never had uniforms but wouldn't care of I did. I don't see why anyone wild object to having them.

  • Well in elementary school they were uncomfortable. In high school it was only a problem during the summer, and even then it was because of the lack of acceptable air conditioning.

  • Way too many variables to say that the uniforms themselves increase learning ability. The proper statement would be, "Schools that require uniforms are better centers for learning."

  • Eh, I dunno about their claim. I'd place my wager on the fact that since they're just starting to enforce rules things are coming more together. It's a matter of a change in the staff and atmosphere. Maybe uniforms are a part of that, but I dunno if I'd call it the defining trait. Maybe the most apparent one.

  • im at an ordinary secondary school [not private] and some teachers are really tight about school uniforms which is pretty annoying. I dont really mind uniform but some teachers are really strict about it

      • School uniforms primarily are in private schools. These schools traditionally have much higher standards in discipline. Uniforms do not improve learning. Higher standards and discipline do more in that regard than anything.

        • I think it's just a massive hassle to be perfectly honest. Also correlation=/=causation. At that point the head teacher is just going off of conjecture.

        • Most kids wear jeans and a t-shirt anyways so non-uniform doesn't actually non-uniform.

        • Uniforms are awesome, get up and slap on the uniform, no worrying what to wear.

        • Had a uniform in school, wore my own clothes in Sixth Form, and it made no difference to my education, but I preferred wearing my own clothes.

          • Nope I have never attended a school with school uniforms. As for if I would want to wear one it doesn't matter to me. I don't mind having to dress up unlike some people. As for it improving learning and stuff like that I find that unlikely. Since when you have a job you are expected to dress in a certain way and that doesn't mean you are going to be better at that job. Then I don't think people should be forced to wear them.

Well looking back I probably wouldn't mind. When you're a teenager you probably don't like "dressing up", as in tucking your shirt in and wearing slacks instead of jeans. But when you get older you'll most likely end up having to dress that way for your job so...it doesn't seem bad now.

            • My school had a uniform, it was pretty uncomfortable but it didn't bother me a whole lot. But it certainly didn't improve anything in anyway, was just a slight nuisance.

            • People should not be forced to wear them. I came from a high school that had them. They do not help with learning, j refuse to believe that. They certainly didn't help at my school.
