Considering the Wii considerably outsold the 360 and PS3 worldwide and the healthy sales of the 3DS, I think it's premature to proclaim their demise.

  • It's not the demise of Nintendo, it's the demise of the Wii-U. The Wii sold extremely well, better than Nintendo even expected. It sold to a mass casual base that has never been into gaming before. The Wii-U is not going to recapture that casual base. "Wii-U sports? I already have Wii sports." Casual gamers have no reason to pick up a Wii-U, they don't have the same buying habits or enthusiasm for a product that the hardcore do. Nintendo isn't offering anything new or gripping for the casual base with the Wii-U that the Wii hasn't already offered. That being said, even the hardcore is strafing away from the Wii-U. The Hardcore knows that there will be that one or 2 games that they NEED to get, but they are seriously weighing their options right now. Should I really get this $300-$350 machine for 1-2 games? That is a significant investment that many hardcore gamers don't even want to make. Some hardcore gamers feel they can do without Mario and Zelda.

Apparently the sales numbers were a foreign language to you... As someone who invests for his future retirement, I'm not liking the info pertaining to Nintendo right now. It doesn't matter what the Wii did. it's the fact that the Wii U is bombing right now. The Wii was blowing sales estimates completely away at this time after it's launch. The Wii U is falling far short of even the most conservative sales estimates for it. However; the 3DS ans the Vita are blowing a full fledged console out of the water in sales. And that's not even combining the two mobile systems together. Each system individually is crushing the Wii U. There is no "stay positive" or "wait til their titles drop". Sure the sales will go up a small margin, but not enough to make up this loss. And with no marketing to speak of, how will the consumers even know when these so-called Messiah Titles arrive in order to buy them? Nintendo is not looking good. And it's been plenty of time since the launch in order to start making these assumptions. By now, a Japanese console should be selling like hot cakes, especially in it's home market. Especially there.
