Not looking good for Nintendo.
I'm not trying to hate on Nintendo, I love Nintendo, but this is bad.

At the end of the article, I mentions how dominantly strong the handheld market is in Japan. It also mentions that it could drastically be affecting full-on Console sales in the country, both currently as well as in the future.
Do you think that the massive strength of the 3DS/Vita combo will harm the sales numbers of the launch of the PS 4 as it has the Wii U?
This news is alarming, but is possibly pointing towards a definite shift in consumer desires in one of the largest video game markets in the world. What do you guys think?

Nintendo needs to cut the price of the Wii U and start putting out games. $350 is too much, cut it to $299 for 32gb

3 RepliesI'd rephrase it to "Not looking good for Wii U". Console races are marathons. The Wii U could turn around. Right now the console is on life support. They needed Pikmin out last year. They needed Rayman to stay exclusive. Mario Kart needed to be this year and not next. SSB needed to be early 2014 instead of what will probably be late 2014.

They need to get rid of the god-damn gamepad. Go back to what you did perfectly two generations ago, and update the GameCube controller to work with modern games.

4 RepliesIt has no games besides pikmin 3 and super Mario bros u. I own the console, but there really isn't any incentives to own it yet. The same thing will happen to the Xbox one and ps4. Why buy a new console that lacks new games when you can buy or hold onto your current gen consoles and play the same games plus have access to its entire library of games.

My solution: Replace the executives with a younger generation of gamers who aren't stuck in the 90s.

I'd say Nintendo hasn't been in good shape for the past couple of years I think they spend way too much time on handheld marketing and not enough with their own console.

No, most of the pre-orders for the ps4 sold old didn't they? And most people who buy handhelds most definitely buy regular consoles anyways. (From what i've seen anyways)

1 ReplyThe Wii U is a pretty cool system, and once the big games like Smash Bros. and Zelda come out, it's going to be great. Unfortunately, Nintendo failed big time with the marketing. It's actually astonishing how they could mess it up that badly. I don't see sales getting that much better, even when the heavy hitter games come out.
