It's an Ogio pack, and they are well-known for decent design and construction. Mine (identical to yours) has been handling my carry and travel (along with being kicked under the airliner seat in front of me) for over a year and other than some scuffs, appears to be holding up to my abuse almost as well as my previous pack (a Wenger). Your images appear to show either a seam failure (due to a snag or internal stress from being heavily loaded/pressured). Perhaps someone with some sewing skills (and the appropriate needles and high-durability thread) could patch it, I don't know. Or, you could try contacting the manufacturer and see if they offer a repair/refurbish service.

The side parts where it ripped are like plastic, I don't think a I can fix it. I was just mad it has been starting to rip because it should be very durable. Also, this is from the Bungie product page from other people: "I loved this back pack but man, it did not age well. Zippers fall off in a couple weeks. Then the lining on the zippers begin to shred. Now rips have appeared down the bottom. I treat it well too and only carry books in it. Bungie did a wonderful job customizing it, but Ogio screwed up. Do not buy it. You will regret it. I have had it since August and now I need a new one. Gets shredded too fast and a poor quality buy. I love it but hate it." "I've had this backpack for exactly a year now. Yes, it looks absolutely awesome and has a lot of great pouches and whatnot, but this backpack really doesn't age well at all. First, the material around the zippers peels off and leaves a sickly green residue. Rips have appeared in places that don't exactly make sense, and the zippers themselves break soon after. It's a really cool backpack, but ugh." It seems I am not the only one, maybe I didn't get lucky. I have had it for probably close to a year now so I am sure any warranty is void. Live and learn I guess. Edit: I also looked up the non-Bungie version of this backpack and people are complaining it falls apart also after a few months.
