I'm considering getting back into G-Code, but I understand the core concepts of programming, so imperative or declarative, "it's all good".

Once you get fundamentals you can learn anything, just gotta get around the syntax, which, depending on the language can be easy or difficult.

Luckily for most cases, there is plenty of documentation available for each language. In my opinion, being able to understand and utilize documentation like MSDN is a greater asset.
