I'm been primarily using vb.net for years. I use C# occasionally just so I don't get too rusty, but for what I do, vb is just more convenient.

  • Do you not find that VB just takes longer to code, with long declarations etc? I use to love it but now I despise it, as its so unconventional?

  • Not for me, I find the structures using actual words more intuitive and cleaner than punctuation everywhere. Considering C# didn't exist when I was in school, C++ was always waaay more hassle to deal with form development and managing all the files, includes, and all that overhead. Guess I never felt really compelled to switch back to C since that rapid dev enviornment for VB has always been good to me.

  • Each for their own I guess, but do you use any other languages? As a large amount use the bracket, and declaration structure and of course. Semi Colons ! Aha. O C++.. I remember when I first started learning many years ago, I thought it would be best to jump straight into C++, not knowing any of the principles, and fundamentals. Dumbass mistake learnt nothing, and if anything damaged my little mind at the time lol

  • Yeah, I will use C# from time to time. Quite a bit of PHP. Just got used to Basic over the years because that was the company standard when I got here. Much of my job for the first couple years was converting GW-BASIC programs to something with an actual GUI.

  • Ah I see then, well that's all cool. I actually like PHP quite a bit, it's powerful, not too complex and has a lot of hidden gems. Also I like it because on some editors you can get a great theme for syntax highlighting, the dark background and pastel colours. I believe 2012 Visual Studio has that..
