It was all about being politically popular/smart and a large part of the American public were being driven by fear and emotion so the natural reaction was to say something similar to the beliefs of the whole at the time. Once all the emotion comes down a few notches, I feel like nothing will really happen outside of maybe making background checks more thorough, removing gun show loopholes and touching base on mental health. Overall, there isn't much he can really do without violating the Constitution.

no such thing as a gunshow loophole.

So....it's a myth?
-
Essentially. Most guns sold at gun shows are through licensed dealers. There are firearms sold between people but they tend to be Curio and Relic firearms, or anything older than 50 years and not in production. The gunshow loophole is a term coined to describe sales of private property between people. Some times it happens at a gun show, but 90% of the time it doesn't.

yep. your myth is courtesy of the brady bunch and CSGV who declared that half of all dealers at gunshows did not have an FFL and when told the truth(all FFLs follow the same rules at shop and at gunshow) switched the language they used to sellers at gun shows..which is technically a half-truth since half the sellers at gunshows are in the accessories business and don't need an FFL.. i don't see why the guy selling gun oil or magazines or the guy selling custom leather products(holsters, belts, bodices, etc.) or mystery meat/quality beef jerky would need an FFL since they don't sell guns....do you? a minimum of 95% of people selling guns at show will be FFLs. the rest will be collectors looking to buy/sell/trade a couple items for their collections.
