Contrary to your beliefs, Obama DOESN'T want to take your guns away.

Oh he would definitely love to, but he knows that would cause revolution instantly. He has begun the process by trying to severely limit our ability to revolt. Although, I'd be more outraged over his murders and his belief he can arrest anyone he wants and hold them however long he wants for absolutely no reason.

So what's the point in banning Assault Rifles? They make up for only 1% of gun deaths annually. The person in charge of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban is also the one wanting to advise Obama on what weapons should be considered "Assault Weapons" and ultimately banned. In the ban, two shotguns were identical only one was banned though cause it had a pistol grip. Liberals just want to take away guns that look scary. "But with Assault Weapons being illegal, criminals won't get them to go on shootings!" Explain to me how criminals follow laws again?

the orders he made are ones A)already banned by congress, b)already tried and failed or C)outside his power scope. all he did was waste a tax payer's money on stationary...

4 RepliesIt was all about being politically popular/smart and a large part of the American public were being driven by fear and emotion so the natural reaction was to say something similar to the beliefs of the whole at the time. Once all the emotion comes down a few notches, I feel like nothing will really happen outside of maybe making background checks more thorough, removing gun show loopholes and touching base on mental health. Overall, there isn't much he can really do without violating the Constitution.

5 RepliesLet's put this into perspective: Look at the 18th amendment. Obama doesn't want Prohibition to happen again. Obama is just a figurehead, yet gets all the flak. The Judicial Branch has much more power than BOTH Legislative and Executive branches put together. If the Judicial branch thinks something is unconstitutional, they'll call it out. So far, they haven't called anything out, so it must be constitutional, right?

39 RepliesUltimately, stricter gun laws and background checks will lead to confiscation. Just look at some states who are already proposing to do so. Why do we need a record of every law abiding citizens ownership of a gun. It would be much better and easier to put people into a system who have a criminal record.

every single gun control advocate on the internet, much less bnet, is invalid until they stop reading the same recycled joyce foundation garbage and actually buy some books and do some actual research. here is a few thinking improvement tips: proper research involves the scientific method, and not op-ed masquerading as research, whereby no actual scientific process is used. proper research involves criminologists and economists, [b]not[/b] medical doctors. medical doctors are not a heavily "numbers"(data/graphing) based practice, and they are not qualified to do the research of an economist or criminologist.

16 RepliesIt is every Americans Constitutional right to own guns. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. And eventually, Obama's restrictions will be so harsh there would be no point to own guns. He might even take them away. Just because he said he would leave guns alone does not mean he will (Politics). We need guns for self defense and to stop tyranny in the government if need be. If he takes guns, what will stop him from taking other rights?
