It is every Americans Constitutional right to own guns. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. And eventually, Obama's restrictions will be so harsh there would be no point to own guns. He might even take them away. Just because he said he would leave guns alone does not mean he will (Politics). We need guns for self defense and to stop tyranny in the government if need be. If he takes guns, what will stop him from taking other rights?

Do you want to know what happens when the government violates your Constitutional rights? It's called the Supreme Court they usually say if something is allowed or not. In the case of banning weapons I do believe the Supreme Court would laugh as they tell everyone to get out.
-
Except the Supreme Court has 4 members who interpret the constitution in a similar manner as Obama. Do you really think it would be that difficult to convince one more to get a majority vote?
-
Well then looks like your days of gun ownership are numbered.
-
Perhaps.. Perhaps.. but it's our days; not just mine. These laws, if they come to fruition, effect everyone. For me though, I'd much rather just take the easy route and find a sensible manner in which to solve this problem instead of forcing an opinion on a nation and wasting tax payer money to justify it in court.
-
The most sensible option is to enforce the already existent gun control laws, and allow states to make their own decisions instead of forcing in the federal government.
-
Meh. I agree to an extent. The current gun control laws need to be updated to account for all the stupid people out there. I agree completely that the Feds need to stop poking their nose in other people's business.
-
The most the Fed should get involved is having the ATF giving states recommendations for their gun laws. Beyond that the Fed should just sit on the sideline and yell out at the states when they violate the Constitution.
-
I think they should also be involved in the background checks. The Feds, I feel, could do a much better job at compiling information from all states than going by an individual state basis.
-
Possibly but it wouldn't happen considering the massive budget cuts that are going to hit the federal government soon.
-
Nah, it's all dog and pony. They'll reach a last minute deal and all the stupid people in America will praise Congress as heroes.
-
Yeah.....this is going to become a normal thing, isn't it?
-
Sure will. Until America wakes up and realizes most of the squeaky wheels up in Washington need to be changed..
-
Well that can be solved with some duct tape.
-
The 4th and 5th Amendments would like a word with you.
-
No they wouldn't me and the Constitution don't usually speak to each other.

Edited by Aryan Barbarian : 2/20/2013 9:34:07 PMI should add that i stand for mental checks when buying guns, and stopping little kids (talking like 3 or 4) from being exposed to stuff like that and violence until they can handle it. Also, criminal background checks and stuff like that. Remember, only 2% of gun crimes are committed with Legal guns.
