It's a double edge sword. They saw the player count drop once people were able to grind what they needed to craft a seasonal weapon. In return, it's turned people away when you get your 25th, 125th, etc. of the SAME crap roll time after time. I don't think they (Bungie) understands my play time isn't going to go down once I'm able to craft a weapon. They want more play time/ so that means more micro transactions. I dunno if crafting will save the game at this point. Every week, every event something is broken, doesn't work as intended. For me that's what is getting old.

So the problem isnt crafting. The problem is keeping the game interested for players after they got the gear they wanted.

And in lieu of solving that, we could have very easily just had both crafting and RNG anywhere in the game and yet Bungie chose not to do that. Never forget that Bungie chose the people that “stop playing when they get what they want.” That’s very telling in a very unfortunate way.

Agreed. The problem honestly was never Crafting. It was really burnout, poorly designed activities, and buggy or bs things happening in the game such as enemies one-shotting you for no reason or things like Hive Knights and Acolytes just getting increased fire rate out of no where.
