Why cant we have crafting, and shinies?
-
I mean. Crafting is so nice for a player like me who want to play, but dont want to grind my butt of and waist to much time. Thats why i want crafting and adept/tier 5/triple perks(whatever you call it) It lets everyone get what they want. It lets me who play when i can, craft a perfect roll weapon that i want, instead of having 3-5 of the same weapond in the vault with a barrel or masterwork i dont want. It saves me vault space to. And the hardcore grinders can grind for a shine/tier5/adept with triple perks, which will be better then my crafted weapon. Everyone could be happy with that i think. I play less now since the stopped with crafting because i never get a randon perfect roll i want. Always just 2/5 or 4/5 if im super lucky. Dont feel good. Crafting is so nice for players like me. But i want the hardcore guys to get some good randoms to if that is what they want. Just let us keep crafting. Please!

3 RepliesEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 4/7/2025 7:47:46 PMBy the time we hit Echoes it was: Craftables: seasonal, raids, new destinations, a few reissues(Wish was the last season that had it) Non craftables: vanguard ops, nightfall, onslaught, dungeons, crucible, iron banner, trials, comp, gambit, world drops, all events, most reissues Random people: “crafting ruined the game!” 🤦♂️🤷♂️

Edited by ben: 4/6/2025 3:26:58 PMI honestly wish crafting at least still existed for seasonal weapons. I'm a returning player, haven't played since lightfall and when I started grinding out the seasonal stuff I was shocked that there is no way to craft anything. Adept weapons I think are fine because you can target farm them and you basically get 3 rolls per drop at the perks you want since they have selectable perks... for example if you want a scintillation you can do a few gms and with its perk pool you'll probably get the roll you want quickly and it isnt too punishing of a grind. Weapons that you can focus also help with the grind without needing crafting. If you want a replusor destab joxer's you can play pvp for a couple resets and have like 60 engrams worth of chances at one. But things that you cant craft or target farm from a specific activity or encounter not being craftable hurts.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 4/8/2025 5:17:14 PMWe can. The tiered system IS the method for having both at the same time. The community is too split on this to have removed crafting, and unless Bungie acknowledges that and adjusts accordingly, they are going to lose people. And I’m one of them. The fact that we very easily CAN have both and that they actively chose NOT to do that just doesn’t sit right with me. The last 3+ years of this game(WQ-TFS) showed me this game is much better when it leans more into build crafting and encourages experimentation, and bad luck protection and/or meaningful player agency for weapon chases is how you do that. Crafting facilitated this very adequately despite that aspects of its implementation didn’t make sense, like free weekly red borders. The loop of how I played the game that is responsible for the time period that I played the most is now just…. gone.

4 RepliesYES PLEASE! But Bungo says nope, and then they sit back and wonder why player time keeps dropping and dropping and--- It's almost like they want us all to quit so they can ruin something else coughmarathoncough. Bungo NEVER going to play Marathon get over it and get back to Destiny!

I don't get why the seasonal stuff isn't craftable but all the raids are like shouldn't that be the other way around. This season is one of the few that the weapons are actually decent with builds and the artifact most seasonal gear was either useless or very niche to use
-
Crafting was a step in the right direction, something the game should have had from the start. Taking that away leaves me with maximum 5/5 resonance things with nothing to turn into a red border with. If everything was made craftable it would solve a lot of vault problems, just put the perks available per element and frame type, and make the origin trait either the foundry or location-based. We have armor transmog, but when will we get weapon transmog? Diablo has weapon transmog, level up already Bungie.

1 ReplyEdited by Cal O'Mari: 4/8/2025 12:51:00 AMIt would be nice to have them. Vault space is a huge issue for players and a continuously growing pool of items. Why not let us craft weapons as per the usual, but let players craft up to 2 or 3 perks in the last two columns so we can then pick PvP and PvE rolls to put on the same weapon, and minimize vault space that way? Then, since we can create enhanced perks, we do that like normal, maybe increase the level spread a bit, but not too much. It takes work to build those up. There's the grind, but at least that grind feels worth it. If the only redeeming factor that makes this game playable is grinding excessively, then the company just failed to make better, more engaging content. If they made more engaging content, they wouldn't have to lean so heavily into arbitrary mechanics.

1 ReplyI 100% agree with this. Because of shinies and adepts the grind is still there for those who want it. What having crafting does is prevent future regret for deleting rolls due to vault space. This is a no brainer!

Edited by BridledPear926: 4/7/2025 1:05:27 AM100%. I’ll grind WAY more to get redborders than I will for random drops where I’ll never actually get 5/5 roll and with perks that will be rebalanced with in a year. I highly doubt crafting actually decreased player engagement.

14 RepliesI love how every argument against crafting sounds like: “but noooooo I won’t feel special anymore having the god roll because I have no life outside of destiny and all the people with jobs and other responsibilities can get it without relying on RNG 🥺🥺🥺”
-
I agree. When some of these 5/5 rolls can take over 3000+ hours to get the drop, something needs to change. If they don’t bring crafting back, then at least give us the option of selecting 4 perks in each column as a way of focusing the perk pool and increasing the drop chance to something actually reasonable. I want to use the weapon, not spend all my time hunting for it only for something else to come out and render it useless a season or two later.
-
100% agree. I stopped playing shortly after crafting was dropped. No crafting was a big reason why. Just started playing again. Don’t even look at drops now. I just auto delete.
-
Unfortunately they won’t, they want you to keep grinding endlessly for that illusive 5/5 rolls which realistically would never drop Yes they’re that manipulative and bad, they see you as a farming bot
-
3 RepliesIt's a double edge sword. They saw the player count drop once people were able to grind what they needed to craft a seasonal weapon. In return, it's turned people away when you get your 25th, 125th, etc. of the SAME crap roll time after time. I don't think they (Bungie) understands my play time isn't going to go down once I'm able to craft a weapon. They want more play time/ so that means more micro transactions. I dunno if crafting will save the game at this point. Every week, every event something is broken, doesn't work as intended. For me that's what is getting old.
-
Agreed. Crafting gave a great alternative for players who both don't have the time for shinies and didn't want to deal with Bungie's terrible system that many players believe still has weight gate active. For those who complain and say crafting ruined the game, they seem to not think about the fact that crafting is optional. They can still grind out their god roll and, in raid cases, they can get their shinies from Master. An issue with that however is that a lot of these players who had been begging for the game to be harder are also the ones who don't even do Master Raids. Feels like a bunch of hypocrits if their reason for that is because Master Raids are too hard. On top of all of that, the point of the game shouldn't be on a priority of difficulty as that should be optional. The whole point of a game is for it to be fun in whatever way the player wants. If the only way to get good gear is locked behind the worst content in the game, then that explains why majority of the playerbase left. Well, besides the factor of a crap ton of bugs, terrible game management, and one of the worst kinds of CEOs in the business.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 4/6/2025 1:29:39 AMNo bad luck protection anymore means the game has reverted to a state in which it’s basically the only game you play if you want to fully get everything you want from it. That is too big of an ask, especially after having built in bad luck protection for seasonal weapons for 3+ years. So I’d rather just not play at all. It’s wild that they thought we needed crafting from seasonal weapons removed. Up through Echoes it was: Craftables: Seasonal, raids, new destinations, occasional reissues Non craftables: Vanguard ops, nightfalls, crucible, iron banner, trials, world drops, dungeons, events, most reissues It was already pretty one sided, but sure take away crafting from the temporary weapons. Take it away from the cyclical new weapons that gave us the ability to experiment on demand while we chased all those RNG weapons.
-
Crafting is the ultimate bad luck protection and definitely should be more available...and have a way to add more perks if you put in the work...

2 RepliesI second this motion. Crafting was the whole reason I played seasonal activities. Now that we're relying on Bungie's perk-weighted rng, and we have to sacrifice vault space for every roll we're lucky enough to get that we wanna keep, seasonal activities just don't feel worth it, and I've had no motivation to play them at all this season or last season, outside of doing story and getting the Barrow Dyad catalysts this season. Bungie took away crafting to try and force people to grind more, so their numbers would look good to investors, but all it's done is drive more people away from the game, and take away our motivation to play.
-
I third this motion crafting is a key component to many good RPGs I hope the gun rework includes this and it just hasn't been announced yet

6 RepliesYOU GOT SHI9NIES. Crafting was not a good thing for the game. It was a stop gap measure to deal with the issues of too many perks, too many useless perks and perk combinations. Now, they have not fixed the core issue, but they took crafting away to get you to play more. Not really working, but it is what they did. Crafting in this game sucked compared to other games. Crafting did not SOLVE permanently any issues. Crafting should not be implemented back into the game unless they fix the real issues first.
-
2 RepliesMight as well. Marathon will fail big time.
-
Bump!
-
yeah agree, when they add the tier system crafting should be a thing ,ofc they shuld remove the enhancing option from crafted weapons
-
I don't really care about crafting either way but I don't see why seasonal weapons that are only available for a limited time aren't able to be crafted anymore. Like raid weapons are but those weapons will always be available( unless bungie decides to vault again)
-
1 ReplyCause Bungie said no.
