Or... Just stop trying to fix what wasn't broken. They added crafting to counteract absolutely abysmal RNG, because at its very core randomness means there's a pretty solid chance you will never see the role you want even if you no life the game. Crafting took that possibility out back, and ol' yellered it. Now, that possibility is back in full effect and the playerbase is just... Miniscule. The people who stayed because crafting breathed life back into the game, are trickling away. As it turns out, that was a pretty big chunk of the players. EDIT: Thinking on it, even if they did bring crafting back, without the half measure it has now, it might be too late. Ironically, there's a pretty good chance those players are gone for good. Years of trash RNG, just to have a solution given then ripped away will have that effect on people.

  • The game has a healthy balance right now, but could be better. Dungeon and raid weapons absolutely should all be craft-able. Season and world weapons shouldn’t be craft-able since they’re significantly more welcoming and easier to farm The Nether has it right. You can’t craft the weapons, but it’s a seasonal activity and the loot is dropping non stop. That’s how it should be. As for the new dungeon; it’s rather lame we can’t craft those weapons since they’re harder to farm and it’s a premier end game activity

  • I think the opposite. I think the common weapons, world drops, playlist weapons, and possibly seasonal weapons, should all be crafted, but not enhanced. Dungeon, Raid, Trials, and other high-level content should not be crafted, but can be enhanced, and adept versions for higher-difficulty. Raids, Dungeons, and Seasonal weapons should all have their own engrams and be focusable. Of course, this should be rebalanced as well. Activities should drop no more than around 10 weapons/armor instead of 15-30, especially when they're all junk. We should be able to do multiple activities before having to go to the postmaster. Crafting should require more patterns. We shouldn't be limited on the number of Harmonizers we can obtain each season. Seasonal weapons are questionable for me, but I'm inclined to say they should be crafted, only because it's limited-time content (although, that could also be an argument against them being crafted, as well. Idk). If they are crafted, I think the patterns for weapons older than the current year should be obtainable somewhere, maybe from Banshee. Idk if it's too late now, but I think if Bungie had done this from the start, it would have been way healthier for the loot economy. Crafted weapons shouldn't be among the highest tier weapons. They should supplement the highest tiers. Raid and Dungeons shouldn't be crafted, or we end up in a situation where people have everything they want from them and never do the activity again.

  • The whole point of crafting seasonal weapons, was because they might never come around again. Or in the case of Season of Dawn, they come back multiple years later. It doesn't matter how much loot gets thrown at you. There is a very real chance that you will never see the roll you want. Again, crafting mitigated that. Only issue is, Bungie's probably going to do what they always do. Double down on bad decisions. I mean look at Sunsetting. Took them almost half a year of "This was stupid." for them to come to the realisation that it was in fact stupid.

  • Whether you like it or not, the “chase” for a god roll is actually what keeps more players than you’d imagine coming back. What’s the point to play the game at all, once you’ve obtained a god roll? Yes, the core gameplay is fun, but it goes hand and hand with chasing the loot. You’re playing to chase the loot. Now, I don’t fully disagree about seasonal weapons. Easy solution is to do what they’ve done with the last 2 episodes. Keep at least one season activity around from that season so players can still try and farm that specific loot. That’s also a way to keep more content in the game too, especially because I enjoy a lot of the season activities

That sounds a bit like catering more to people that play the game like a slot machine than to people that actually play for the fun of buildcrafting and experimentation. I played more with crafting because it allowed me to experiment with perk combos or even whole weapons that I otherwise wouldn’t have bothered with during down time. Now I’m chasing like maybe three seasonal weapons and not playing during down time. There’s two sides to this and those sides are split pretty evenly. I think catering to both by giving options is best. Regular weapons should be craftable and then adepts and double perk drops are the RNG chase. Both sides have things to pursue based on how and why they like to play. Problem texting like this needs to be a one or the other are keeping this an issue when it doesn’t need to be.

What about the people who chase a god roll, get burned by RNG, and then just go play something else? The thing you're missing is, it's been ten years of this, and more and more people are seeing that there are other games. Games that will respect your time more in the space of a week, than Destiny has in its entire lifespan. You can tell me what you think, but that doesn't make you right. People are leaving in droves, and sure some of them come back, but every time Bungie makes a decision like this, that returning number gets smaller and smaller. They better hope Apollo pulls enough people back. I can see us not agreeing on this, so I'll agree to disagree and move on. EDIT: Last little thing I wanted to add. I want the game to stay successful. If I had my way, the game would be around for another ten years at least. But I'd want the game to survive on its own merits, not this cycle of trying to nickel and dime peoples time, just to drive up metrics.

Except you are wrong or I should say you cannot be proven to be correct. People leaving in droves is funny considering people were already leaving during episode 1 which had crafting....... the numbers dont lie here so if crafting was this big stink that pushed everyone away. why did we see the trend before crafting even got the chop or announced? this fact alone proves you are incorrect. What further disproves your claim and any association with it being directly caused by crafting is "lightfall" leading up to TFS...... are we just gunna ignore how lightfall was arguably the worst DLC they did and for MANY was the "hold up I'm not pre-ording TFS till I see improvements" mentality? I know a few who had this idea going into TFS and subsequently bailed because it didnt answer there questions in improvements. Also crafting for the majority of players now (the D2 vets) simply dont want to touch RNG again, and that is BECAUSE of crafting. they got complacent with the idea that everything would be craftable so let go of the idea to "grind god rolls" which is ironic because as a D2 vet myself, Heresy has been the BEST episode/season when it comes to "finding that itch to farm god rolls" and its even more mind boggling that I look at all the drops BECAUSE there isnt a craftable version waiting to be crafted. You can agree to disagree but sadly your argument doesnt hold water when you look at pre TFS figures to post TFS figures and account for episode 1 and its decline which was nothing to do with crafting.

Okay and you can tell me what you think and that don’t make you right either… The game is 10 years old. The people leaving are not leaving because of RNG. That’s the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard. They’re leaving because they’ve done nothing but ply Destiny for 10 years and are tired of the game. I haven’t played in 5 years and have been back to playing for a year and my god this game has SO MCUH CONTENT. It’s absolutely amazing and by far one of the best games on the market for anyone who wants to sink their teeth into something massive and rewarding. I understand that a lot of really bad players and/or whining players like to use the argument “some people will never see a god roll because of RNG” and all I have to say to you is BS. The RNG isn’t that bad. If you actually invest rime into the game, you’ll see a god roll for whatever you’re looking for. You might not find “the perfect roll” with proper barrels, mags, and masterworks, but you’ll find the perks and that’s plenty good. Why you guys cry is because you want the reapings of someone who invests a lot of time, but don’t want to do any of the sowing. You want to play the game for a couple hours a week and have an arsenal that makes you look like a destiny god. Sorry dude, but there’s other games that don’t require a time commitment. Destiny is a grinding, looting type of game and has been since its inception

Being honest, I already said I would agree to disagree and move on. Think what you like. That's how it works.

  • and that’s why Bungie is set up to fail. There is no middle ground. I take a middle ground position and it’s still not enough for you
